Terms of use
Last updated: 3 November 2026
These terms apply to Tilia, provided by ObscuraCode Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. By using Tilia, you agree to these terms. For company information, see codeobscura.com. Contact: legal@codeobscura.com.
What Tilia does
Tilia provides automatic voice and text translation, camera text recognition and an English ↔ Russian phrasebook for face-to-face conversations and travel. It requires iOS 18 or later, or Android 8 or later. Language availability and offline speech support depend on the platform, phone and installed packs. The app is not yet available in stores; the website describes the planned release.
Automatic translations can be wrong
Translations, voice recognition and text recognition are automatic and may contain errors or omissions. Check important names, numbers and instructions. Do not use Tilia for medical, legal or emergency decisions without a qualified interpreter. Tilia is not a certified translation or interpreting service.
Free and Premium
Free includes 10 conversation translations, 3 headphone conversations and 3 camera scans a day, the last 10 history entries (starred entries always kept) and 3 phrasebook categories. Free has ads on Phrasebook, History and Settings, never during a conversation. Text-size and accessibility features are included.
Premium removes these limits, includes all 12 phrasebook categories and has no ads. All three subscription plans are offered:
- Weekly: £5.99 / US $6.99 each week.
- Monthly: £9.99 / US $11.99 each month.
- Yearly: £39.99 / US $49.99 each year, with a 3-day free trial for eligible users. Best value.
Prices vary by country; the App Store or Google Play shows your local price. Cancel anytime in your store account. No lifetime plan is offered.
Billing, trials and automatic renewal
Apple App Store or Google Play bills and renews your subscription. Payment is charged to your store account at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of an eligible free trial. Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price shown by your store.
The yearly plan’s 3-day free trial becomes a paid yearly subscription unless cancelled before it ends. The store shows your trial eligibility, renewal price and billing date before you confirm. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
Manage or cancel in your store account: Apple subscriptions or Google Play subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancellation stops future renewals; access continues for the remaining paid period, subject to store rules. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their applicable policies.
Use and availability
Use Tilia lawfully and respect other people’s rights when recording speech or translating photos. Download required language packs before relying on offline use. We do not guarantee error-free translation, uninterrupted availability or suitability for a particular situation. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot be excluded under applicable consumer law.
Privacy
Read our privacy policy for on-device processing, the Android system speech exception, advertising and purchase services. You do not need an account.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, the jurisdiction stated in the provider’s company information. Any mandatory consumer protections and rights to bring a claim in your local courts remain unaffected.
