The phone mic captures both voices, using the selected sides or automatic language detection to identify the speaker.

A few things to know

Does it work without internet?
Yes, after you download the language packs and required voices. Speech recognition, translation and text recognition run on the phone. On Android, offline speech requires on-device recognition support; the system speech service may process audio on phones without it.
Which languages does Tilia support?
iPhone uses Apple Translation’s offline languages, about 20. Android uses the ML Kit set, about 59. Speech and voices also depend on your phone and installed packs. The app menus are in English and Russian; phrasebook content is English ↔ Russian.
Is my voice uploaded?
Tilia does not upload your voice, typed text or photos to us or our servers. iOS forces on-device speech recognition. On Android without on-device recognition, the phone’s system speech service may process audio.
What does the free version include?
10 conversation translations, 3 headphone conversations and 3 camera scans each day; the last 10 history entries, with starred entries always kept; and 3 phrasebook categories. Ads appear only on Phrasebook, History and Settings, never during a conversation.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Manage or cancel in your Apple App Store or Google Play account. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Deleting Tilia does not cancel a subscription. See Support for links to both stores.
Can I use Tilia on iPhone and Android?
Tilia is coming to iPhone with iOS 18 or later, and Android phones with Android 8 or later. It is not in the stores yet.
How accurate is it?
Translation, speech recognition and text recognition are automatic and may be wrong. Check important details. Do not rely on Tilia for medical, legal or emergency decisions without a qualified interpreter.
Can two people use one phone?
Yes. Each person has a half of the screen, in their own language and colour. Tap your half, speak, and Tilia reads the translation aloud. You can also flip the other half or show a phrase full screen.
